We’re Matt and Zara, co-creators of Kavango. Matt is the designer and illustrator and Zara is our very own Conservation Expert. After we got married in Scotland in 2019 we moved to Botswana when Zara secured a job working on combatting the illegal wildlife trade.
For us, Kavango is so much more than a board game. It’s a modern and realistic view of conservation in southern Africa, based on our lived experience, and love for the region and everyone we’ve met along the way. Our time in Botswana has shown us first hand the commitment and innovation to conservation across southern Africa. Kavango is based on the incredible real life success stories we’ve been so fortunate to see and engage with. Through Kavango we wanted to channel that success and ignite the conservationist in you all.
We believe that an optimistic narrative can inspire and motivate people into creating a better world. We hope playing the game will inspire you to protect wildlife and biodiversity wherever you are.
